Let's begin with a little back story. I know a wonderful lady who is so talented with any kind of cakes or desserts. For Halloween she made Ashton's class Pumpkin Pops. They were AWESOME! So much so, that the class wrote me a thank you note for them. Oh yeah. They were that good. So I realize that although we had TALKED about the Turkey Pops for Thanksgiving, we may not have nailed down an actul date for pick-up. I call and sure enough, she is already booked and wont be able to do them in time. No worries. I've made cool things before for his classes, I can do it again.
So after a long thought process before, during and after the grocery store trip, I got to my mom's with all the ingredients for Rice Krispie Treat Pops with Sprinkles.
Let's just say that the Rice Krispie Treat Pops didn't turn out quite like I had expected. And you KNOW its bad when you're 7 year old says, "That's all right mom. I don't have to take a treat to school tomorrow." Pathetic.
So...How do you go about doing something like that? Here, let me show you:
Step 1: Make Rice Krispie Treats
Step 2: Make Rice Krispies into balls and place on sticks. Get the chocolate melted for dipping and the sprinkles in a bowl.
Step 3: Dip Rice Krispies in chocolate. Then realize that this is not going to work when you leave the Rice Krispie part in the bowl and are left holding only the stick.
Step 4: Move on to Plan...I've Lost Count At This Point and cover the remaining Rice Krispie Treat Pops with the sprinkles very carefully so they don't fall off the stick.
Step 5: Realize they still look pathetic and say "Screw it!".
I think we ate most of them that night. They tasted way better than they looked. And no worries, dear son. I have already put in our order for the Santa Hat Cake Pops so you won't have to put up with your mom's attempts at Culinary Creativeness.
