Family Friday

Our Family Friday was spent snuggled in bed with a sick Little Man.

Poor guy.  Here's to hoping he feels better tomorrow.

AAP's New Car Seat Guidelines Change Rear Facing & Booster Rules

"New Rear-facing Recommendation: Parents are to keep children rear-facing until 2 years old, or until they reach the maximum height and weight for the seat as noted in the manual.

New Boostering Recommendation: Children should ride in a belt-positioning booster (that means a high-back!) until they are at least 4 foot, 9 inches, AND 8-12 years old."

Family Friday

Ok. I admit it. I am biggest, giantest, Super Dork in the history of Super Dorks.

I couldn't sleep well last night and was SO concerned & JUST KNEW that I was going to oversleep this morning & make Little Man late for school. The alarm went off and I snoozed it a couple of times.
When my eyes finally actually looked at the time, it said 7:30 to my sleep-deprived brain and I said "OH NO! WE WILL BE LATE
IN 10 MINUTES!"

When we get to the school and notice the school buses out front and people waiting at the closed gate, what did I say? "Oh, somebody must be having a field trip today!"

I ACTUALLY DROPPED HIM OFF AT THE DOOR WITH A NOTE FOR BEING TARDY!

When I pulled away from the curb and turned on my radio and the guy said "Good Morning! It's 7:05..." I went OH...MY...GOSH!

HIS SCHOOL ISN'T EVEN OPEN YET!!!

I whipped around and saw him standing at the door with this "What now?" expression on his face.

What can I say?  Have pity on my Little Man and his crazy mama.

Bernanke To Congress: We're Much Closer to Total Destruction Than You Think

"Official Congressional budget estimates understate the peril of rising debt, Fed chair Ben Bernanke told the Budget Committee on Capitol Hill today.
Warning that our nation's fiscal health has deteriorated appreciably since the onset of the financial crisis and the recession, Bernanke called upon lawmakers to confront the long term fiscal challenges sooner rather than later. If lawmakers don't confront them, they'll find themselves confronted by them."

Family Friday

We had SUCH a good time visiting with Grammy Jerry and Grandma Berger this Spring Break.

We started off the visit with dinner at IHOP and a sunset on the beach.

The next day was a trip to one of Jerry's favorite places, Home Depot!

She had asked that I bring the truck so that we could pick up a few things for her new Hibiscus bed/outdoor seating area, and of course, I obliged.  So after we got back with the stones and mulch, the REAL work began.  It is still a work in progress, so she won't let me post any pictures, but I know it will be BEAUTIFUL when she gets it finished.  A quick dip in the pool and dinner, and we were done for the day (after a few games of cards, of course).

The next morning we were up early and headed out to C'MON, the Children's Museum of Naples.

That place was SO NEAT!  It had an indoor treehouse the kids could climb in complete with an "alligator" swimming below them under glass, a fishing game, a "city street" full of stores we could play pretend in, a grocery store, a seasons room and even a spot where you could be a Weather Person!  If you are ever in the area, i definitely recommend checking it out.  You won't be disappointed.

After a picnic lunch, it was on to the Water Park!  Unfortunately, I was still taking medicine from my "under the weather" spell last week that made me sensitive to the sun so we didn't get to spend as much time there as would have, but Little Man thought he was a Big Kid because Mom and Grammy sat in the shade and he got to run around unsupervised (or so he thought).  No worries, there was always a watchful on him, whether he knew it or not.  Then it was home to a scrumptious meal prepared by Grandma Berger and it was movie and bed time.

These Spring Break visits are always short, but we LOVE getting to spend time with two of the best ladies I could ever ask to be related to.

The Individual Mandate's Growth In Unpopularity
"The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments this week over key aspects of President Obama's health care law, including the expansion of Medicaid and whether the court even had the right to hear the case. But the core of the challenge mounted against the Affordable Care Act hinges upon its individual mandate, which requires almost every American to have or buy health insurance.

At the Supreme Court this week, some of the justices were tough on the administration's top lawyer, Donald Verrilli. It was Verrilli's job to defend the individual mandate, and some say he didn't do that great of a jib."
