Family Friday

A trip to the dentist!  For some reason, my guy LOVES to go to the dentist.
Go figure.

Too Cool for Cavities

Brushing on the Bubbles

Sparkly Smile

And look what she gave him to do while we wait for the dentist!

Maybe I do know why he likes going to the dentist so much...
That and the bag of loot he got too!

We Can't Wait: Obama Administration to Lower Student Loan Payments for Millions of Borrowers

"In a press release titled "We Can’t Wait: Obama Administration to Lower Student Loan Payments for Millions of Borrowers", it says “these changes carry no additional cost to taxpayers.” Sure. Like all the other free stuff the administration is handing out..." ~YAL Facebook post

Family Friday

SPRING BREAK IS HERE!!  WOOHOO!!  In honor of the first day of Spring Break, we slept in and stayed in our PJs!  So since we didn't do anything blog-worthy today, I will tell you about the fun things we did and learned while on Little Man's Field Trip.

He took the school bus to (and I met them at) the Downtown Waterfront Park for some Science Stuff.

They broke up into partners and studied tree bark,

and growth rings.

Then we moved on to the pier and talked about a river's ecosystem.

They got to (carefully!) grab some of that ecosystem

and look at what they found using a simple microscope (after some instructions and a few words of warning, of course).

Then they moved on to a relay race that illustrated the concept of transfer of energy.

After lunch, they loaded up and headed to the movie theater to see The Lorax!!

What a fun day!!

President Obama Signs Executive Order Allowing For Control Over All US Resources

"The National Defense Resources Preparedness order gives the Executive Branch the power to control and allocate energy, production, transportation, food, and even water resources by decree under the auspices of national defense and national security. The order is not limited to wartime implementation, as one of the order's functions includes the command and control of resources in peacetime determinations..."

Family Friday

Little Miss Priss had her birthday party this weekend.  Can you guess what her theme was?

She had a beautiful "birthday suit"

There was a too-cute homemade cake

With some appropriately themed candles to blow out

And of course, party hats

These were some cute pictures that I just had to include of her about to go on a birthday date with her dad.

And what he got her while they were gone.

What a good Daddy.

Government Subsidized Wind Farms Told NOT To Produce Energy

“We require taxpayers to subsidize the production of renewable energy, and now we want ratepayers to pay renewable energy companies when they lose money?” asked Todd Myers, director of the Center for the Environment of the Washington Policy Center.
“That‘s a ridiculous system that keeps piling more and more money into a system that’s unsustainable,” Myers said.
Green energy advocates stand with Myers in their opposition to the BPA’s oversupply solution.
In response to the outcry, the BPA says, “its hands are tied by environmental regulations,”

Family Friday

This Family Friday is all about Hubby's Birthday Party.  I can hardly believe we were able to COMPLETELY surprise him yesterday!  And let me tell you that it was a CHORE!  MIL and I had been cooking this up for about a month and we were so excited!  When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, the only thing he mentioned was that he would like his mom to come up for the weekend, since he wasn't going to be able to go with us to see her during Spring Break.  I mentioned it to her and at first she didn't think she would be able to come due to some previous commitments she had made.  But after thinking about it, she called me and said "I got to thinking.  Why can't I come for the weekend?  So I've just booked my flight!"
So Thursday, I had to get off work early, pick Little Man up from school and rush to the airport.  He knew the secret and was about to burst.  He asked on the way to the airport, "Can we talk about it now?  I am SO HAPPY Grammy is coming!"  We picked her up and rushed back home.  When we got there we were trying to figure out a way to get her in the house to surprise him.  Well, what is the easiest way is usually the best way.  We knocked on the door.
He opened the door to his mom shouting "SURPRISE!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY!"  I WISH I had a camera ready when he opened the door because his face was PRICELESS!  His mouth was literally hanging open.  I asked him later if I had really and truly pulled one over on him and he said that surprisingly, I had!  We had a wonderful evening of eating, playing games and catching up.  Plus, MIL helped me make Hubby's Birthday Cake.  His request?  An Ice Cream Cake.  Your wish, is my command!
Hubby's command had given his crew Friday off and I took the day off, so were able to hang out and get ready for the party that night.  And man, oh man, was it a party.  I don't think I have EVER had that many people at my house at one time.
I got him a smoker for his birthday and he was proudly smoking on it all day.
When people started showing up (early, might I add, since Hubby decided to tell people to be there an HOUR earlier than I was expecting anyone) we were STARVING for some yummy grub.
We played darts,
stuffed ourselves silly
and had a great time.
